Mailfilters > How does PriorWeb decide an email is spam?
Our spamfilter checks each mail and looks at a few different properties. These checks are applied to the contents and the headers of an email.
When one of the checks is positive, points are added to a total score, a 'Spamscore'. When the total score is over 5 points, the message is flagged as spam.
The quarantine system allows you to check all messages which have been blocked by the spamfilter. There is a possibility the spamfilter incorrectly flagged a message as spam. When this is the case, you can look up the message in quarantine and forward it to your mailbox. The spamfilter will reanalyse the message and alter its checks accordingly to prevent similar messages from being blocked.
The spamfilter has been trained with thousands of messages. The more messages are trained, the better the filter will perform.
