Software > How do I configure Apple Mail?

Before you can configure your mailbox in your mail client, you have to first create one. For more information about this issue, check the related articles.

1. Launch Mail by clicking on the shortcut in your Dock, or in the Applications folder in the Finder.

2. If it's the first time you run Mail, the configuration wizard will pop up automatically. If you already have mail accounts configured in Mail, you click on 'Mail' in the menu bar, then 'Preferences' and 'Accounts', and you click the plus sign at the bottom left. The wizard will now pop up.

3. You now have to choose the type of mailbox. All PriorWeb mailboxes support the POP3 and IMAP protocol. Using POP3 will make sure that all messages are downloaded every time you check your mail, with IMAP your emails remain on the server until you delete them.

4. Fill in all settings that are prompted, such as your name and email address.

5. Now you can configure your incoming mail server. To fetch your emails from the PriorWeb mail servers, you use 'mail.priorweb.be'. The username is your full email address and correspondent password.

6. You have to set an outgoing mail server, in order to send emails from the new account. To use the PriorWeb mail servers, use 'smtp.priorweb.be:587'. Mail will automatically remove the added ':587', but it will be registered anyway. This is the port of our mail server, and will make sure that you can use it even with providers like Telenet, Skynet or Scarlet that block outgoing mail traffic on the regular port (25).

Attention, it can take a few minutes for Mail to check all SMTP settings. Please be patient.

7. This last step will give you an overview of all your settings. You can confirm that all settings are correct.

The email account is now configured.
