FAQ

Email
Mailing lists > How can I unsubscribe myself from a mailing list?

Members can unsubscribe themselves by sending an empty message to the unsubscribe address of the mailing list. The mail is formed by adding '-unsubscribe' after the mailing list name. For example: when unsubscribing from the mailing list newsletter@priorweb.be, you would send a message to newsletter-unsubscribe@priorweb.be.

If you would like to unsubscribe another email address to the list, but your mail client is not configured to send mail from that address, you can specify the address you wish to unsubscribe inside the unsubscribe address. You have to replace the @-symbol in the address you wish to unsubscribe with a =-sign and add this after the -unsubscribe part of the unsubscribe address.

For example: to unsubscribe john@priorweb.be from the mailing list newsletter@priorweb.be, you should send an empty mail to newsletter-unsubscribe-john=priorweb.be@priorweb.be. A mail will be sent to the unsubscribing address (eg. john@priorweb.be in the previous example). You will need to answer that message to approve your unsubscription. This approval can happen from any address.

The unsubscribing address will always be notified of an unsubscription, so it's impossible to unsubscribe someone without his knowledge.
