Software > How to disable Norton AntiVirus email scanning
Many of our customers have told us that there is a problem connecting to the PriorWeb mail servers, but also any other server, while Norton AntiVirus email scanning is enabled.
Your mailbox of forward at PriorWeb is already equipped to scan for virusses (if enabled), so it's not necessary to use third party software to scan the email again. Below you will find the necessary steps to disable Norton AntiVirus email scanning.
1. Exit your email programs such as Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird.
2. Start Norton AntiVirus from the Start menu or by clicking the icon in the task bar (double click).
3. Click 'Options'. When you see a menu, click Norton AntiVirus.
4. In the left pane, click 'Email'.
5. In the right pane you need to deselect 'Scan incoming Email' and 'Scan outgoing Email', so the options are no longer active.
6. Now click 'OK' to confirm.
You can now close Nortin AntiVirus again an start your email client. The scanning feature has now been disabled.
